Lionsgate has set the release date for Jean-François Richet’s action film, Mutiny, starring Jason Statham, for August 21, 2026.
Jason Statham fans can check out a first look at Jason Statham in his newest action movie, Mutiny. Statham is shown pointing a gun on a cargo ship, where he portrays Cole Reed, a former Special Forces soldier and ex-police officer.
The film Mutiny tells the dangerous story of a major operation descending into chaos due to an internal rebellion. Jason Statham’s character finds himself caught in a deadly conspiracy that forces him to survive amidst betrayal, violence, and a race against time.
In a desperate situation, he must use his combat skills, wits, and survival instincts to uncover the mastermind behind the rebellion before it leads to even greater destruction.
Like his previous films, Mutiny is sure to feature Jason Statham’s signature style: brutal close-quarters combat, thrilling chases, and realistic, no-nonsense action sequences. The film is said to be fast-paced and tense from beginning to end.
In the movie Mutiny, Reed gets blamed for killing his old boss. He has to figure out how to stay alive when he discovers the ship he’s on is full of people who were involved in his boss’s death.
He gets on the ship to seek revenge for his boss’s death, and finds out there are huge, global consequences happening on board. The situation of being trapped at sea might indicate a new kind of isolated setting for one of Statham’s characters.
Mutiny is scheduled to come out on August 21, 2026.
Alongside Steven Statham, the cast also features Annabelle Wallis, who has been in movies like Malignant and Peaky Blinders, Jason Wong from The Gentlemen and Wrath of Man, Roland Møller from Land of Mine and Atomic Blonde, Arnas Fedaravičius, Adrian Lester, and Ramon Tikaram.
Mutiny is directed by Jean-François Richet, who recently directed Plane, a survival thriller starring Gerard Butler.
Richet has worked on exciting action movies like Blood Father and the highly praised French gangster films Mesrine: Killer Instinct and Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1, which makes him a great fit for this film’s realistic and intense style.
